THE GREEN SCENE
Environmental reporting is the backbone of my portfolio. I provide ground-breaking and in-depth coverage on the fate of endangered species like lynx and boreal toads. I’m also an expert on water allocation questions resulting from potential shortages in the Colorado River, and water quality issues associated with acid mine drainage. I’ve written extensively about the invasion of mountain pine beetles that is drastically altering Colorado’s landscape.
When I write about travel, I can use my expertise to show how many environmental issues are global. Recent explorations of national parks in Ireland and Austria, for example, gave me a chance to report on how European land managers and conservation experts deal with some of the same challenges we face here in the U.S.
Click on some of the links in this section to learn about how Colorado transplanted lynx into the state without knowing if there was adequate food available, and how invasive mussels from New Zealand could threaten recreation in the state’s mountain lakes.
